Day 7 - London/Edinburgh
This post is a lil overdue-ed, so it feels kinda funny writing about it since the previous posts I typed it out that night itself, but I'll try nevertheless, lol.

You delete one, I take another one, Nyek!
Anyway, Ding brought us to have Pasty at the train station for breakfast, since we've been having bagel for breakfast the past few mornings. =)

The Pasty Shop

Nice.
Our train up to Edinburgh was at 1pm, I think? We were running from station to station because we were late, lol.

Waterloo Station. Heading towards Edinburgh Waverly =D
So this was goodbye London. More like, brb London, since we would be back within 4-5 days =) Million thankssss to Lim Ding Shyong for spending so much time and effort while we were with you. You were a great host! Enjoyed it to the max! The next time I'm there, KB would probably be hiding behind a wall ready to jump me as I enter. =S

How cool the train was. It has a powerplug, wireless and a table. Even better than MAS. =D
Was playing with the shuttle speed of my camera in the train while it was moving. So cool! Ray's book on photography was helpful. =D A very slow shuttle speed supposedly allows any light within the shuttle speed entering the shuttle be seen in the picture. Hence:

Taken with a high shuttle speed. The train was moving full speed btw.

Taken at a very slow shuttle speed. So pretty =)
(same as how people capture moving lights i.e. cars moving through a city)
Was watching house season 6 on the train since See Ki haven't watched it yet. Anyway, after the 5 hours long train ride, we finally reached Edinburgh Waverly! and guess who was waiting there for us..........

Marcus trying to scare See Ki, lol! Succeeded for a moment. So glad to see him!
And 8 minutes later.....

Nicholas arrived! Seeki and her host =)
(Don't say I never put nice pictures of u up)

Me and my host, Marcus!
As we made our way through the strong, cutting winds and the subzero temperature of Edinburgh, Marcus kindly dragged my 24kg luggage for 400m back to his flat. Assuming he's not a girl (how people say a girl's room is very sacred), I guess he wouldn't mind if I posted up a picture of how his room looks like.

Marcus' crib! Really cosy. I was sleeping on the floor, lol! With a sleeping bag though =)

The cappuccino Marcus kindly made me as a welcoming gift to his room. His coffee machine was awesome.
We settled down, and waited for dinner. Nicholas made reservations for us at this place called The Living Room, fine dining, which was really awesome because he managed to get us 40% discount =D Thanks Nicholas!

The Living Room. Ambience was awesome, but lighting was a little dim.

At first sight.

Our table!

Marcus, Keng, Me & Nicholas

The opposite side of the table
Li Yenn, Tze Yee, See Ki & Keng Seng
It was nice to finally see Li Yenn and Tze Yee too! It's been a while.

Just because it looks good =P
And, of course, our food! :

Nicholas' french onion soup

..and his Lamb!

See Ki's risotto.

Hor Tze Yee's salmon.

Li Yenn's mussels.

...and my boring fish and chips. Keng and Marcus had the same =)

My unhealthy fries! just cause it looked nice, lol.

They brought us to this spot just for this picture. Lol. Interesting.
Yeap! Hopefully I can update tomorrow or something, since I will be back in London already. Ding & KB, here I come! Frigging pick me up from the train station!

Vanessa has a memory card reader, finally able to upload photos! Lol. But I just woke up,and we're going down for breakfast, waiting for See Ki to get ready, she's been in the toilet for quite a while already, so I guess I'll update tonight or something after we get back...................from OLD TRAFFORD!! Camera, DON'T die on me today, I will kill you.
Anyway, I'm in Preston, Manchester, now, house of Vanessa, Yee Lin and Kheng Xhiong, state of Jonathan, Dominique and Daniel, lol! Will try to see you guys. Edinburgh was fun. THANKS a lot marcus, for letting me bunk in your cozy room, for the breakfasts and skipped class, and you & Keng for sending us off and helping us with our luggages. Really appreciate it, thanks! Hospitality was awesome =) and Nicholas for spending so much time with us!I'm sure Vanessa will do an equally good job ;) Hahhaa funny that I'm typing this and she's just on the phone 5 feet away from me.
Okay, my turn to wash up now, till tonight or something!

=)

It's supposed to be day 7 in Edinburgh already, but I don't have a SD memory card reader with me now (I used Ding Shyong's in London), so technically, no photos available till I get back to London or Malaysia, provided Vanessa has one in Manchester! =D So..... updates later la hor, lol.
Anyway Edinburgh have been really fun! London was awesome too, both fun in different ways =) I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Lim Ding Shyong for his aweome hospitality while I was in London. He literally brought us around almost the whole of central London whilst having courseworks and assignments to hand in the very next day. And let us dump our excess luggages at his place while we're in Edinburgh and Manchester somemore. How to find such good friends like this? Thanks ham sup! Will do the same for u if u visit Malaysia ;) LOL!
Will update once I find a way to transfer my pictures! For now, I'll just enjoy Edinburgh.. =)

Day 6 - London
Today will be the last full day I will be spending in London before heading north to Edinburgh. Was up by 6am. But the rest who were usually up by 7.30am were still sleeping by 9am. Almost missed breakfast, went in and woke them up -.-" Our host of the year have been so busy hosting us in the daytime, that he has to stay up till 6am to do his coursework when we get back almost everyday. Million thanks to Ding Shyong. That's why he couldn't help but to sleep while me & See Ki went for breakfast downstairs. But I'm sorry I still have to post this up XD
*searches my camera's memory card folder for the picture of him sleeping on the couch*
....................................
Pok kai. He deleted it when he was transferring the files for me. Will never leave it to him again.
Anyway, plan was to have breakfast and come back wake him up.

Subway in the UK > subway in Malaysia

They have more variety of sauces you can pick from.

My sandwich!
After waking him up, we made our way to Covent Garden, but we took the long route because the long route have way more scenaries and buildings to take pictures of. Long walk also can digest our breakfast.

London Eye from a boat.

Fwuahh. Took 3 mins of turning and flipping my camera to get this angle.

Ding Shyong & See Ki.

Me & See Ki.
Ding had the advantage of the moving clouds to allow the sun to shine and produce its effect on this pic. But better than mine nevertheless, grr.

UK's classic red telephone booth.

Ding & I, after he posted wallpapers of nude girls in the booth. Vandalism at its best. I didn't approve though.
After about 20 minutes of walk, we finally reached the legendary Covent Garden! I was told it won't bore me as much as Selfridge because its not pure shopping, but shopping and great photo-taking opportunities, and it did not disappoint.

I notice that London always uses this color combination of green & gold. Really nice.

Jubilee Market. It's something like a flee market in a sense.

Jubilee Market =)
Anyway, the main reason Ding brought us there is.....

Ben's Cookies, the best cookies in town. =D

Mine was Chocolate Praline. Texture was amazing.
After cookies, Ding had to rush off to class for a meeting. So we already had plans to meet up with Yvonne Tee & Wyng Theng for lunch! Yvonne was supposed to bring us to this place with fantastic pancakes in Covent Garden.

My Old Dutch pancake house!

My Diabeticly Awesome Berry pancake!

Yvonne's roasted duck pancake. So savoury =S

The housemates! Wyng Theng & Yvonne.

See Ki & the housemates.

Me, Yvonne & Wyng Theng
After the meal, we basically headed back to meet with Ding Shyong again, seeing he has finished his meeting and skipping yet another class (what's new). On the way, we had time to take some awesome pictures of Covent Garden!

I forgot what was this building. Had problems fitting the whole thing into a picture.

You're welcome See Ki. After all the bitch slapping, you have been the epitome of the word mean, I still so nice, sigh.

All prepped for Christmas =)

I actually discovered this angle because another tourist asked me to take a picture of him from that angle, LOL. Didn't know how to fit the whole thing in nicely.

The deer pang sai-ed her out.
On the way back, we walked across this bridge, totally forgot the name of the bridge, will put it up once I ask them again. This bridge was really nice because from there you can take Big Ben AND London eye picture, fitting them into one picture. But its best viewed at night though. The differences:

In the morn. I couldn't see myself, was too glaring.

At night. =)
And after discovering the wide lens function......(credits to Ding)
p.s. MUST click to enlarge and view again

Fwuuahhh. Not from google okay!
(No tripod so not CRYSTAL clear, but it'll do. At night the slightest shake will blur it. Edinburgh must use tripod)

I'm telling you, only she has the capacity to destroy a picture like this.

The bridge we took the picture from.
Night time's agenda --> All you can eat ribs at Tony Roma's!! So naturally, we hit the gym before dinner! Prep our stomachs for the ribs, make our money's worth. Ran 3km and did weights. Ding ran the whole time & situps. See Ki was doing provocative gymnast moves in the dance room. After bathing, we met up with Huey Yuen & Siang Loong and took the 40mins train to Zone 6 of London for the ribs.

4 hungry stomachs!
Back: Siang Loong, Teng Teng
Front: Huey Yuen, Ding Shyong

Zone 6, London

Tony Roma's. They have pork here. Malaysia's don't =/

Endless Slabs!

My Carolina Honey ribs! + french fries + onion rings.

The table.

Had 4 racks. I tell you, NOONE is allowed to mention the words "ribs" and "pork" for 1 week. I still have the taste in my mouth & stomach. I woke up not needing breakfast! Still felt full. Oh my tian.
Our freaking train got cancelled at 10.30pm. Next train was 11.15pm. So what do we do? We do what all guys would have done -- go to the arcade downstairs and played air hockey. Awesome-ness. Basically loser had to pay for that round of play = 1 pound.

Siang Loong vs Ding Shyong. Siang Loong won

Zhi Ven vs Huey Yuen. I won!
But eventually lost to Siang Loong -.-"

Arcade basketball. I swear, this is the only time I'm letting Ding Shyong beat me in basketball. In the arcades.
Okay, Have to start packing already. Heading up to Edinburgh. Next update will be from there already. Till then!

London Day 5
Wow, I can't believe it's day 5 already. Another 6 days till I'm home. Why am I so eager to go home when I'm in London? Because my dad dropped me an offline message today:
--------------------------------
ftfook@hotmail.com says:
Slept ?
Did Shyong tell you from Russel Square Station you may board a tube to Paris in just 2 hours. Then you may make a day trip there, or put a nite there...
In foto, without gel looks better .........
Minn's Birthday party on the 21.11.09 (Sat) at home with his frens ... Mum engaged Science Centre ppl tocome in ..
Latest addition to Minn's toy, - Wii bought yeaterday and playing in your room ledi.
Hao is jobless now ....
----------------------------------
They bought my brother a Wii...?!?! ....and playing in my room...?!! I WANT!

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2

Singapore relived.
Yeah, that message got me excited 7am in the morning. Think my jetlag is getting better, at least I feel sleepy when I get up at 7am this time. Anyway, day started off by grabbing bagels for breakfast again, lol. The only other place with better bagels is probably New York.

Bagel Street

Poppy seeded bagel with tomato & beef I think.
Seeki & I made our way to Oxford Street by our own cause our generous host for the past few days is busy with his back logged assignments he piled up accompanying us. Many thanks Ding! The place was awesomeeeee.....

Decorated for the occasion.
Met up with Wei Hehn outside the train station. Many thanks to him too! How many friends of yours is willing to walk 2-3km a day on crutches when you visit a cold ass country like London? He brought us to Carnaby Street and walked around, even though almost nothing was open at 9.30am, lol! But it was a really nice street. Weather was fantastic too, sunny as hell! Again, awesomeeeeeeee....

Carnaby Street
Walked around for a good 30 minutes, waiting to meet up with Vanessa. She was being so malaysian, she was late..!! But I like to see it as her Oyster card screwed her over and hence the delay, lol! Had coffee and pastries with my favourite combo =)

Croissants with icing on it?

Wei Hehn insisted on sitting outside to get the best out of the ambience and weather. Cold as hell, but worth it.

Don't say I don't let you choose which pictures to put up =P

Nicer one! (sorry See Ki)
Right after breakfast(late) with them, we headed to Princess Garden to join up with Ding Shyong again. This time it was dim sum with Siang Loong, Huey Yuen and Xin Yi! The dim sum was supposed to be really good, thought it was ok but the yao zha guai is really nice! Explains why I went to the gym later that night..

Princess Garden Dim Sum

The food! Looks awesome eh =D

Me, Siang Loong (Chester) & Teng Teng.

Xin Yi & I

See Ki & Xin Yi
(See the difference when you take a pic and when someone takes a pic T.T Nevertheless, picture is better than no picture, thanks See Ki!)

Me & Huey Yuen, the most ham sup of all. He took up polo as a frigging weekly sport, wtf. And you complain your monthly allowance drains too fast.

Small world. No, wait, small London. Me, Jenq Yan & Ding. Banged into him, he was having lunch there too.

4 out of 6
Me, Huey Yuen, Ding Shyong, Siang Loong
Anyone of you care to photoshop Tzin & KB in?
What's the best way to digest your lunch after a heavy meal? A simple walk. A simple walk alright, right into Selfridge.

Selfridge & Co, house of pok kai-ism.
If I did anymore shopping, I would have to drink water and feed off Marcus' meals in Edinburgh. Hence, I resisted, and followed Ding Shyong back to chill at his place. More like I chill, he go back finish his work, lol. Pictures took on the way home:

St. Georges Church

Hamleys, the largest toy store. Bought my youngest brother's birthday gift.

Ferrari. I will revisit this store next weekend at the end of the trip, if I have any money left to spend!

Fwuuuaaaahhh...
Anyway, we headed back and basically rotted for a while at home. Exploited his super fast internet to download tv series, hehehehe. Was waiting for dinner time, arrangement was to have dinner at Addie's, a thai place recommended by Dian Hoong, hence, it was at the Imperial corner of London, lol!
Didn't manage to take a pic of the menu cause I was running up and down and by the time I settled down, the food was already on the table and they were digging in. The horror! But Xin Yi calmly handed me my camera "Nah, took already la don't worry". Phew. So, yeah, pictures below creditted to Lim Xin Yi, lol!
(It was really dark there, so the lighting kinda sucked. Couldn't be bothered to adjust the settings cause was too hungry, but Lumix LX3 flash pictures aren't very nice. Flash is too strong I guess)

Don't know their names since it was already on the table when I sat down, but this dish was the nicest! I only know it's pork.

Dunno what name. Mussels.

Dunno what name. Prawns. The sauce was awesome though, sweet kinda curry.

Vanilla Ice cream with blended pandan + cucumber
(Yes, go ahead, have a good laugh, UGH)
Peeps I haven't met since I reached London who were there:

Suat Ling & I

Chan Sze Hua & I. Finally. You better get up at 10.
Didn't manage to take a picture with Oh Shi Lin (spelt correctly right?), next time lah. At least it means Dian Hoong have to see us again before we leave =P
Food was good. Really good actually! But the service over the phone sucked, and they were arrogant. So we wiped the change clean, 5p also didn't wanna leave behind, lol! We are mean people.

Suat Ling & See Ki

The table.
L: Suat Ling, Seeki, Dian Hoong, Shi Lin
R: Sze Hua, Xin Yi, Kuang Hwang, Ding Shyong
M: Me (Can't see, lol!)
Today's program: Shopping at Covent Garden, probably lunch with Yvonne & Wyng Theng, the housemates, and Tony Roma's all you can eat ribs in zone 6 for dinner!! I want breakfast too, but its already 9am and the 2 of them are still in bed =.=
I hereby sworn that I have tried to wake Ding Shyong up at 8am for his classes but he brushed it off with "aiya wanted to go, but slept at 6am, dont want lah. zzz" and shall not bear any responsibility if he were to regret skipping class or if any of his lecturers read my blog.
That's all for now!
Listening to 王力宏 - Can You Feel My World, the melody of the song is so romantic.

London Day 4
(again, click to enlarge the photos, no idea why in this form it looks blur, but looks okay when enlarged)

Good morning world! This is how the living room looks like when we first get up. Notice my laptop at the bottom left corner? With a tripod and my harddrive. Ding Shyong is the one sitting at the upper left corner with his desktop.
Anyway, we were supposed to get up really early today to go to Waterloo Station to get our railcards done. A huge bulk of the itinerary of the day was to shop in Bicester Village = hole in my parent's pocket (I'm honest, I didn't say MY pocket, lol!). But before that, Ding brought us to this place selling Bagels for breakfast just downstairs to where he stayed. It was awesome, don't think we can find bagels as nice as these in Malaysia.

My classis NY bagel (smoked salmon +
cream cheese ;) )

Waterloo Station, supposedly one of the busiest station in the UK.
My very first London post I had a picture of the station but we didn't actually enter it. Well, we did this time. And it immediately gave me this Harry Potter we're-off-to-hogwarts kinda feel. Was looking for platform 7 and a half (was it 7 1/2?) to run through and see.

Inside of Waterloo Station.

Playing with my camera on the train. Was playing with low shutter speed effects, lol.

The ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) kid.

The people who holds her reigns so she won't go wild.
(Didn't bother waxing my hair this time since it rains in London everyday anyway and buying clothes = constant changing)

Ding's camwhoring skills!
The whole plan was to sleep! Since the train ride was 50 minutes long and we didn't get much rest the night before. But aiya got a liveplug with us, who were we kidding? (Big Ben is ringing now, so cool). Anyway, 50 minutes later.......

Bicester Village.

A peep inside. Weather was lousy though.

Sorry, lighting not nice, but it was the only pic with Vivienne Westwood, lol.

Random picture of the inside.
Oh, and we were supposed to meet up with Teh Tzun Tzin (tTt) at 12pm. Not surprisingly, he turned up at 2pm, lol. But turned up, nevertheless!

The CBK & I.

Me & tTt. Nice shot Ding.
(We didn't even enter the shop, lol)

The 2 ham sups!

Tzun Tzin spoiling an otherwise cool picture.

Seeki & I at the end of the shopping trip. Yes, it was dark by the time we were done, lol. But it was only 4.15pm at that moment. London weather.

Mummy's not gonna be too happy about this.
We gleefully made our way home, sorted out the receipts for tax redemption and who owes who etc etc, and rested before dinner. We reached home at 6.30pm, was supposed to meet Dian Hoong and Wrn Wrn for dinner downstairs for Mediterranean food at 7pm, when we called Dian Hoong at 7pm...
"Hello..?"
"Oi, where are you?"
"At home. Leaving now."
"#*!(&$*!($&*&@#$*"
"Eh, Wrn Wrn gonna take much longer to get ready, wait ah"
So i went to take a nap since jet lag was kicking in.. =.=" Once a malaysian, forever a malaysian. When we finally got to eat dinner..

Troia. Food was pretty good!

The appetizer. I think it was bread + yoghurt & sour cream. Was awesome. Olives too of course.

The chicken soup. Was full of potato, pepper, onions, chicken etc etc.

Some mushroom dish, forgot what was it but it was good too.

My succulent chicken dish. Was damn tasty.

Chopped lamb with yoghurt =D

The cousins! Dian Hoong and Ding Shyong.

Me, Dian Hoong & Seeki.

Wrn Wrn(My neighbour!) & Seeki.
Uh oh, Seeki woke up screaming already, tyrant is up.. means I gotta run and get ready now. Gonna be another shopping day I guess, for her, window shopping for me. Update again later tonight.

London Day 3
Okay, day 3 started off by us taking tube to London Bridge Station, this time by ourselves since Ding Shyong wasn't following, he had to finish some of his work so he can join us on Saturday. Original plan was to head to Borough Market for their fresh fish & chips. Met up with Vanessa and Wei hehn there, who were way earlier than us!

London Bridge is falling down, falling down......

Stinko in the tube!

Wei Hehn & I
Wei Hehn was on crutches, he tore his ligament training for Nottingham games, but he still walked with us all the way. Poor thing.
Insensitive joke of the day:
(sms early in the morn before we left)
Wei Hehn: Raining eh :c
Me: Use umbrella la, lazy bum la you! Bet u wanna sleep in.
Wei Hehn: Very funny boy. No hands.
Me: Oops, shit. =X
We were too early I supposed, cause the place only opens at 11.30am, and we were there at 10, supposed to catch the changing of guards at 11, so we abandoned fish & chips (T.T) and made our way to the palace.
Changing of the guards.
Vanessa then brought us to this cool retro place, those kinda soda shops last time with jukeboxes and all? They have awesome milkshakes! and typical american-leading-cause-of-childhood-obesity kinda food, but it was awesome...! Yeah pictured the place in your head already? It looks something like this:

Seeki & Vanessa

Me & Wei Hehn aka Nigel in London, lol!

Our milkshakes!

My set. Gosh I'm hungry looking at it already.

Fantastic food + fantastic company = fantastic time.
We headed to Imperial College after that, since Nigel was supposed to go to uni to complete his work. Met Nicholas Yee along the way, didn't take a photo though.

The university. My first time there, lol. My first time in London in the first place.

I paid 1 pound to take a picture with this guy so I might as well post it up!
After sending him off to uni, Vanessa brought us to the national museum! It was much cooler than I expected it to be, had that "Night in the museum" feel about it, it's architecture, the displays, everything! Was really good for photo-taking.

Outside the museum.

Upon entering.

10 times nicer than those in Malaysia.

Looking AT the entrance.

Charles Darwin himself.

Awesome-ness

Joel, don't say I never do anything for you. =)
Other displays which would interest readers or looks cool:

Embryo

DNA! Lol.

For the guys! Click to enlarge, they even labelled it, lol!
We headed to Harolds after that. Huge mistake! Uber cool shopping paradise for girls, walking torture for guys. Omg. My legs had an orgasm when I sat down! But yeah it was a nice place and worth the visit anyway, thanks vanessa..!

The place, in green this year, eww.

The memorial of Diana and the other dude in the building.

Cool confectioneries sold there. *salivates*
Last event for the day -- dinner at Arang. Vanessa & Seeki dragged my tired ass(more of legs) to the bus and travelled back to Picadilly Circus for dinner. It's a korean restaurant, since I had the urge for Korean BBQ and they said the food there was good. Met Kok Shen, Ding Nen & En Li for dinner there, along with Ding Shyong, Seeki & Vanessa. =)

BBQ beef

My chicken rice on hot stone.

Complimentary oranges. Thought the way they cut it was cute.

The table. Was nice meeting them in London.
(opposite of the table were Seeki & Vanessa =) )
Okay, I have to get changed now, Seeki is screaming already since we have to leave within 15 minutes and I'm still in my pyjamas. Plans for the day -- Bicester sales & dinner with the ham sups! (Dian Hoong, Siang Loong, Huey Yuen) Till then!
